<p>A semiconductor element is provided with a laminated body (208) which includes a constitution wherein a clad layer having a first conductivity, an active layer, and a clad layer having a second conductivity are successively laminated on a semiconductor substrate having plane orientation of (001); and an embedded layer (209) which covers both side planes of the laminated body, i.e., the planes parallel to the plane of the semiconductor substrate in a width direction which intersects the longitudinal direction of a pattern of the laminated body.
