<p>Compatilised filled polyolefin compsn is made by encapsulating hydroxy gp. contg. filler particles (I) with polyolefin (II) coating by mixing I and II in the presence of an ethylenically unsat. carboxylic acid or anhydride under conditions generating free radicals on II, whereby coating of II is coupled to I and thereafter coated I are dispersed in a polyolefin matrix; II and the matrix polyolefin are of the same chemical species and the latter has a lower melt index than that of II. Pref. I is clay and II is high density polyethylene. The matrix polymer pref. has impact strength and othe properties superior to those of II. the composites have excellent physical strength and can be used as reinforcing agent.</p> |
