PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine in which the occurrence of vibration and noise is minimized while arbitrarily setting the number of cylinders operating in the cylinder halt operation.
SOLUTION: In this V-type six-cylinder internal combustion engine having cylinders #1 to #6, the igniting intervals of four cylinders operating in the cylinder halt operation are set to equal intervals (180°). Since the number of operating cylinders is small, the vibration and noise during the cylinder halt operation in which vibration and noise occur easily can be minimized. Since the number of operating cylinder is large (six) in all-cylinder operation and the engine rotational speed is high, even if different igniting intervals (180°and 90°) are mixed in one cycle during all-cylinder operation by the equal interval ignition in the cylinder halt operation, the increase of the vibration and noise by the no-equal interval ignition causes no problem for commercialization. As a result, the silence of the internal combustion engine can be assured in both the cylinder halt operation and the all-cylinder operation.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
|
