PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring about no difference in rotating speed between a first roller (driving roller) and a second roller (secondary transfer roller) as far as possible even when a belt driving unit is actuated. SOLUTION: A belt driving controller 70 switches to use the output signal of a second sensor 6B (a sensor detecting the divisions of a scale of a rotary disk 81 fitted to the rotary shaft of the secondary transfer roller 22 driven by a secondary transfer motor 82) till the lapse of a sensor output switching predefined time after the belt driving motor 7 is actuated, and the output signal of a first sensor 6A (a sensor detecting the divisions of a scale of an intermediate transfer belt 10) after the lapse of the sensor switching predefined time to perform feedback control over the belt driving motor 7 respectively.
