PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the charging potential of a photoreceptor drum within a prescribed range in correspondence to the fluctuation in the environmental conditions in the periphery of a charging member. SOLUTION: In setting the current value to be supplied from a primary power source 51 to a charging roll 32, a temperature assumption value assumed in the periphery of the charging roll 32 is calculated by using a correspondence relationship between a temperature detected by a temperature sensor 65 detecting a temperature in a digital color printer and the temperature detected by the preset temperature sensor 65 in the periphery of the charging roll 32 and the current value is set at the current value corresponding to such temperature assumption value.
