PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the bending load acting on a load rod when a test piece is destroyed in a biaxial tensile tester. SOLUTION: The biaxial tensile tester is equipped with a first load means including the load rod 10 and a load actuator 11 and pulling the test piece TP in an X-axis direction through the load rod 10, a second load means including the load rod 10 and a load actuator 12 and pulling the test piece TP in a Y-axis direction through the load rod 10 and a connection means 20 for respectively connecting the load rod 10 of the first load means, the load rod 10 of the second load means and the grippers 14 and 15 of the test piece. The connection means 20 has bending load reducing mechanisms 21-23 for reducing the bending load acting on the load rod 10 of the second load means through the test piece TP by pulling the load rod 10 of the first load means in the X-axis direction at the time of breakage of the test piece TP.
