摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a total organocarbon/total nitrogen measuring method using a combustion pipe that is enhanced in durability, even with respect to a sample that contains seawater or salt, and to provide a measuring instrument. SOLUTION: After a proper amount of sulfuric acid is added to the sample containing seawater or salts, the sample is heated and oxidized by the combustion pipe 8 and is evaporated. CO<SB>2</SB>and NO, produced by the heating and oxidation of the sample, are measured by a gas detector 9 such as a non-dispersion type infrared analyzer or the like and a gas detector 10, such as a chemiluminescent analyzer, and the amounts of CO<SB>2</SB>and NO are converted into the concentration of the total organocarbon and the concentration of total nitrogen in a data processing part 11 and are then outputted to a display device 11a and a printed 11b.
