PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a quartz glass tube by which the variation of the inside and outside diameter of the quartz glass tube to be manufactured is suppressed and the quartz glass tube having an excellent surface free from flaw or the like and the prescribed inside and outside diameter is obtained in the manufacture of the quartz glass tube by a pressurized hot plug insertion process. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the quartz glass tube having prescribed inner and outer diameter by heating a part of the quartz glass tube and forcibly inserting a plug 23 into the quartz glass tube while relatively rotating, the pressure of the inside of the quartz glass tube before the insertion is reduced.
