PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gearless hoisting machine of an elevator for reducing failure such as erroneous detection, by preventing oil filled for lubricating a bearing of a motor shaft from infiltrating inside a rotation detector. SOLUTION: This gearless hoisting machine has the motor shaft 1, the bearing 2 rotatably supporting this motor shaft 1 and filled with grease, a bearing cover 3 oppositely arranged in an end part of the motor shaft 1 and forming a hole 24 on the axis of the motor shaft 1, a connection shaft 4 having one end part arranged in the end part of the motor shaft 1, penetrating through the hole 24 and synchronously rotating with the motor shaft 1, a first oil keeping-off part 9 arranged between the bearing cover 3 and the motor shaft 1 and preventing splashing the grease outside of the bearing cover 3, and an encoder 5 arranged in the other end part of the connection shaft 4 and detecting rotation of the connection shaft 4.
