<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-luminous display device in which the lighting time length is controlled so that the speed of decrease in the screen brightness becomes constant, according to the extent of decrease in the light-emitting characteristics of a dummy pixel, of which the light emission is controlled by the average gradation value of an input display data. <P>SOLUTION: When a dummy pixel and a luminance detection sensor are disposed outside the effective display region of a self-luminous display panel in which the lighting time length in a single frame period can be controlled variably, the average gradation value is multiplexed to an input display data by frame, and the degradation characteristics of the dummy pixel are matched to those of the effective display region. Then a constant degradation value is multiplexed to the input display data as a dummy pixel data for each timing of actual measurement of the luminance degradation. The lighting time length in a single frame period is controlled so that the speed of decrease in the screen brightness becomes constant, according to the extent of decrease in the light-emitting characteristics detected, based on the luminance detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
