<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cross cell interference in wireless time-division duplex (TDD) communication systems that use code-division multiplex access (CDMA). <P>SOLUTION: Potentially interfering user equipments, with respect to a particular UE, are discriminated in a time division duplex communication system that uses code division multiple access. Time slots used for uplink transmissions by a plurality of nearby UEs are identified (22). Each nearby UE is not in a cell of the particular UE and is close geographically to the particular UE. At the particular UE, an interference level is measured in each of the identified time slots (24). The identified time slots are classified using the measured interference level.
