PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the industrial economical production of a new dibromotricyclo[5,2,1,0<SP>2,6</SP>]decane substituted at 3 or 4 position and 8 or 9 position and useful as a raw material for various polymers. SOLUTION: The production method comprises the addition reaction of hydrogen bromide to dicyclopentadiene in saturated state using a Lewis acid metal catalyst as a reaction catalyst.
