A circuit arrangement of a proximity switch for determining the activity state of the proximity switch has a capacitive sensor element the capacitance of which changes in dependence on the activity state, a control signal generator (SG), a controlled switching device (T1) connected via a first terminal (A1) to the capacitive sensor element (C3). Between the control signal output (N1) and the first terminal (A1) of the switching device (T1) is a charging resistance (RL) loop.
