<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording material excellent in color developing properties, with less fog on a ground skin of non-color developing part (unused part) against dry heat and wet heat, and excellent in storing stability of a color developed image. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal recording material is constituted by providing a thermal color developing layer comprising an ordinarily colorless or light-colored color developing compound and a developer compound for thermally color-developing the color developing compound, on a substrate. The thermal color developing layer comprises a compound expressed by formula (1) or (2) as the developer compound.
