<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave element and surface acoustic wave device which is inexpensive and has excellent vibration characteristics so as to be available for various electronic apparatuses. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a surface acoustic wave element 30 in which an IDT 40 comprised of a pair of interdigital electrodes 40a, 40b is provided near the center of a piezoelectric substrate 34 and a surface whereon the IDT 40 is provided and an opposite surface are bonded to a package 20 by an adhesive 32.
