摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission diversity apparatus capable of obtaining a maximum transmission rate and a maximum diversity gain using a simple coding and decoding structure in a communication system that transmits complex symbols using three or more transmit antennas. SOLUTION: The transmitter applies inversions and conjugates to input symbols so as to make at least two columns of a transmission coding matrix orthogonal to each other and to maximize a diversity gain, then rotates the phases once for each other, and transmits the matrix. The receiver detects symbols that minimize maximum likelihood (ML) decoding metrics over all possible symbols using received signals and channel gains from transmit antennas. Also, the receiver selects candidate symbols among all possible symbols according to the characteristics of modulation symbols transmitted by the transmitter and detects symbols that minimize the ML decoding metrics.
