PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply, easily and efficiently producing a lightweight, inorganic foamed material having excellent insulation performance by using a solution containing high-molecular weight siloxanes and silanol salts. SOLUTION: The method for production of an inorganic foamed material comprises pouring the prescribed volume of a solution containing high-molecular weight siloxanes and silanol salts into a molding mold which is formed of a molding base mold comprising iron or non-ferrous metals, and a releasable mold comprising a polytetrafluoroethylene film and detachably mounted on the inside of the molding base mold, fixedly sealing the solution, expansion-forming to 2-15 times volume at a temperature of 250-350°C, slowly cooling, releasing the sealing condition, and then demolding.
