The reception of the impedance takes place in a fixed frequency. The analyte is identified in an electrolyte-containing gel-matrix. The method for the detection of analyte in the form of DNA and RNA fragments in an aqueous medium, comprises intruducing the analyte into a measuring volume (2) of 10 pL-1 nL, subjecting the measuring volume with high frequency (10 kHz-5 MHz) by pair of electrodes (3) arranged outside the measuring volume and receiving the impedance. The reception of the impedance takes place in a fixed frequency. The analyte is identified in an electrolyte-containing gel-matrix. The composition of the gel matrix is selected in such a way that the difference of impedance with and without the gel matrix is at most large as possible. An independent claim is included for a device for the execution of the above method.</p>
