<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purifying device which can easily purify raw water, such as well water, to water of quality suitable as water for miscellaneous use, snow-melted water etc. without using an oxidation device. <P>SOLUTION: A filter tank 1 accommodates animal activated carbon 2 as a filter material. The raw water, such as the well water, flows into the filter tank without being oxidized to pass through the animal activated carbon 2 as a filter material, which removes iron and manganese ions by the ion exchange capacity of the animal activated carbon 2 to purify the raw water. The iron and manganese concentrations in treated water purified by passing through the animal activated carbon 2 are set to be equal to or lower than 50% of the iron and manganese concentrations in the raw water.
