IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of three-dimensional image display and and dual display without reducing luminance of images observed by an observer.

SOLUTION: The image display device 1 comprises: a display panel 2 for displaying the images; a backlight source 5 for emitting light to the display panel 2 ; a polarization control liquid crystal panel 7 for separating the light emitted from the backlight source 5 into light with a first polarization axis and light with a second polarization axis different from the first polarization axis; and a lenticular lens 8 including a lens part 8a formed so as to direct the light separated to have different polarization axes by the polarization control liquid crystal panel 7 in predetermined directions, respectively, and also so as to extend in a direction (the direction F in Fig.1) substantially orthogonal to a line segment connecting the left eye 10a to the right eye 10b of the observer 10.
