<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic levitation propulsion system which can minimize pitching and a magnetic levitation railway using the above magnetic levitation propulsion system. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic levitation propulsion system is equipped with levitation coils and propulsion coils which are arranged along a specified shifting course, and a field which confronts the above levitation coil and the propulsion coil and shifts along the above shifting course, receiving force for lift from the above levitation coil and receiving propulsion force from the above propulsion coil, and the above field has an even number of magnetic poles in the shifting direction, and also the magnetomotive force in the magnetic poles at the front end and the rear end is smaller than the electromotive force in the magnetic pole at the center.
