PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for measuring the position of a stator, which can quickly and accurately measure the position of a stator to the axis of a rotor. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with supports 2, 3, 8 and 18, which are positioned at and supported by an axial support RAS2 for a rotor, under the condition where the stator S being accommodated in a motor case and the rotor not being inserted into the stator S, and a stator position deriving means which obtains the position of the stator S with respect to the axis of the rotor, based on the output of a plurality of displacement sensors 20 that can measure the radial positions of two or more points at the bore face of the stator S, that are arranged at the supports 2, 3, 8 and 18.
