PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage medium management device, program, and method for decreasing write size of defect management information. SOLUTION: The storage medium management device is equipped with a memory writing section which reads first defect management information being information on defective address which is written to a storage medium, writes information on all defective addresses based on the first defect management information as all-defect information to the memory, and writes information on a subsequent defect based on first subsequent defect information 32 as second subsequent defect information when the first defect information includes the first subsequent-defect information 32 being information on the subsequent defect, and a storage medium writing part which updates the all-defect information and second subsequent defect information on the basis of information on a new subsequent defect when the new subsequent defect is detected and writes information on the subsequent defect based upon the second subsequent defect information as the first subsequent defect information 32 to the storage medium.
