PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device allowed to be reduced in its thickness. SOLUTION: The disk device 1 includes a tray 2, a cartridge pressing device 4, a disk pressing member 51, and a spindle 34. Either one of a cartridge 7 or an unhoused disk is placed on the tray 2. The cartridge pressing device 4 presses the cartridge 7 placed on the tray 2 to the tray side. In the disk pressing member 51, the height of the end surface 51b of the tray side from the placing surface 21 of the cartridge 7 of the tray 2 is higher than the cartridge 7 placed on the tray 2. The spindle 34 is raised to press a housed disk 200 to the inner surface wall 71c of the cartridge 7 thereby holding it, or presses the unhoused disk to the disk pressing member 51 to hold it.
