PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and collectively extract backup object files and back up the files, according to a purpose of execution of the file backup. SOLUTION: A file backup system is provided with a file I/O processing section 103 having a backup object system call table 109 storing a backup generation object system call and an object history information accumulation processing section 108 which writes a system call, process identification information and file identification information in an operation history file 110 on receipt of an I/O request from an application program 105, and a file backup processing section 104 having a related file extraction means 113 for producing a related file for a backup object file from an operation history.
