PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file management system, an automatic management method of a storage and an automatic management program for automatically optimizing a virtual partition assigned to each user, and for achieving the exclusive control of a file in an environment where a large capacity of storage is shared by a plurality of users. SOLUTION: In this file management system equipped with a storage which can be shared by a plurality of users, the storage is provided with a partition setting means for setting a plurality of virtual partitions corresponding to the number of users, and the partition setting means is provided with a partition reconfiguring means for reconfiguring a virtual partition based on the using circumstance of the virtual partition when predetermined conditions are established.
