A method for processing login to an instant messaging service in an electronic terminal and the electronic terminal thereof are provided to quickly process a login procedure for a joiner by performing data transceiving/processing for the selected joiners without performing data transceiving/processing for the all registered joiners. A memory(110) stores joiner selection information of the joiners selected to perform the instant messaging service. A controller(120) transmits the joiner selection information stored in the memory and login request information to an IM(Instant Messenger) server. The controller receives state information of the joiners corresponding to the joiner selection information from the IM server performing authentication according to the transmitted login request information and display the received state information. The controller includes a joiner selector storing the joiner selection information generated by selecting the joiners to the memory, a transmitter transmitting the joiner selection information and the login request information to the IM server, and a display processor. |
