PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal wherein an increase in a communication cost can be suppressed even when a handset can be connected to a plurality of telephone lines, and which can quickly cope with the arrival of a phone call and causes no hindrance to reception of a facsimile call. SOLUTION: When a call arriving in a line 2 is detected by a signal from a photocoupler 32, an H relay 36 is thrown to the position of the line 2, and a call tone rings from the handset (ancillary phone). When the handset is not hooked off even a lapse of a fixed time, a CML relay 41 is closed, and a MODEM relay 40 is thrown to the position of the line 2 resulting in executing facsimile reception processing. Since an L relay 38 is opened and the H relay 36 is thrown to the position of a line 1 in this case, facsimile reception is not disturbed even when the handset or a receiver of an externally mounted phone 2 is lifted up.
