PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using a relay substrate, when coping with multi-lines without necessity of using the relay substrate in when copying with a single line, when adding a facsimile function, and capable of suppressing the facsimile functions from being projected from the apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a connector 11 capable of connecting to a facsimile board 30, or the relay board 20, to which a plurality of the facsimile boards 30 can be connected. A surface of the facsimile board 30 connected to the connector 11 as a one-line extension unit 41, and the surface of the facsimile board 30 connected to the relay board 20 as a two-line extension unit 42 is made to face the same direction.
