PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding type constant velocity universal joint capable of reducing its weight and the amount of grease to be filled by reducing the axial length of an outer ring while eliminating grooving work. SOLUTION: The sliding type constant velocity universal joint comprises a sealing device 31 for closing an opening portion of the outer ring on its shaft protruded side. The sealing device 31 has a metal cylindrical adapter 33 having one end 33a fitted to the outer ring 22, and a flexible material boot 32 having a large diameter portion 32a connected to the other end 33b of the adapter 33 and a small diameter portion 32b fitted to a shaft 28. The adapter 33 has a non slip portion 36 for abutting on a component around an inner ring to keep the non slip of the component around the inner ring in the state of maximum-sliding to the axially outward side.
