A gate assembly includes a gate (10) having a pair of parallel side members (12), the side members (12) engaging a pair of vertically extending tracks (40), the tracks (40) being located one on either side of the gate and extending partially below ground level and means (30, 50, 52, 56) being provided to move the gate ( 10) longitudinally of the tracks (40); so that the gate (10) may be moved between a closed position in which it will be located towards the upper end of the tracks (40), above ground level; and an open position in which it is located towards the lower end of the tracks (40), below ground level. |
