A copolymer is made by reacting (a) an organopolysiloxane containing Si-bonded Cl, obtained by chlorinating a siloxane containing Si-bonded H, with (b) a hydroxypolyoxyalkylene compound in the presence of at least one amine selected from pyridine and quinoline and derivatives thereof and aromatic amines, and subsequently removing the amine hydrochloride produced and neutralizing the reaction product, in the presence of an aliphatic alcohol, with a basic compound of an alkali or alkaline earth metal. Examples are given. |
