1,239,549. Rotary conveyers. RICHARD ZIPPEL, [trading as RICHARD ZIPPEL & CO. K.G.]. 3 Feb., 1970 [27 Feb., 1969], No. 5092/70. Heading B8A. Moulds 24 are conveyed step-by-step on a turntable 1 of which an annular strip 3 is engageable by gripper members 14 of a reciprocable trolley 6 and by a brake 9. The members 14 are spring-urged, about pivots 12, into engagement with the strip 3 which is normally braked due to a tension spring 10. An hydraulic system powered by a pump 16 actuates a piston-cylinder unit 28, 8 connected to the trolley 6. An hydraulic device 11 controls the brake- 9. In response to an electrical initiating pulse, a valve 21 causes fluid pressure to operate the brake-release 11 after which, via a restriction 18, the pressure causes the piston 28 to be displaced against the action of a spring 29. The table 1 is thus indexed until a control signal causes the valve 21 to open, the feed is interrupted and the brake 9 is reapplied. The control signal is generated when a photo-electric device 23, 25, 26 is actuated by a mould 24. When the fluid pressure is released from the piston 8 the gripper members 14 are able to slide over the annular strip 3 as the trolley 6 returns to its original position due to the spring 29. In place of the strip 3 an endless strip formed as a loop may be used to rotate the turntable; the strip, preferably a linear portion thereof, being engageable by the gripper members. |
