A charging apparatus and a method thereof are provided to process charge data only with small system resources to thus secure maximum processing capability compared with that of a different charging system. A first receiving unit(450) stores charge data received from a charge data generating device(210) in a storage unit(440) according to a first allocated IP address. A second receiving unit(470) stores charge data received from the charge data generating device(210) in the storage unit(440) according to a second allocated IP address. The first charging unit(460) generates charging data with respect to a single session by using the charge data stored in the storage unit(440). When the first charging unit(460) has an error, a second charging unit(480) generates charging data with respect to a single session by using the charge data stored in the storage unit(440).
