A method for inputting information on a destination in a portable terminal is provided to increase user convenience largely by inputting a phone number or an email address of a destination via a subscriber number or a reduced number. A method for inputting information on a destination in a portable terminal comprises the following several steps. If a user requests a data transmission, the portable terminal generates a window for inputting a destination to which data is transmitted and displays the generated window(S120). If the user inputs the first identifier and a reduced number in the window, the portable terminal reads a phone number or an email address matched with the reduced number from a phone book(S140). The portable terminal automatically inputs the read phone number or email address into the window(S150).
