A wedge clutch assembly for power tools, drilling rigs and like machinery utilizing rotating drills. The wedge clutch assembly has a pinion shaft adapted in shape to support a pinion gear, a bronze clutch cup, an optional thrust bearing, and a steel wedge clutch spring washer retained by a fastener. Another embodiment of the wedge cup assembly is assembled on a modified motor shaft to include a bronze clutch cup adapted to accept a sprocket whee l and a steel wedge clutch spring washer retained by a fastener.
