An apparatus and a method for controlling a heater of a heat insulation drawer are provided to detect opening of a door by using software without adding an extra device. A method for controlling a heater of a heat insulation drawer includes the steps of: turning on the heater(S10); counting an on time(t1)(S20); determining whether an inner temperature of the heat insulation drawer reaches to a set temperature(C1)(S30) or not; turning off the heater if the inner temperature of the heat insulation drawer reaches to the set temperature and determining whether the counted on-time is bigger or equal than or to a first set time(T1) and is less than a second set time at a same time(T2)(S40); recognizing a door of the heat insulation drawer as closed if the counted on-time is bigger or equal than or to a first set time and is less than a second set time at a same time(S50); storing the on-time and an off-time(t2) if a door open detection mode is stared by repeating that turning off the heater at the set temperature and turning on the heater at reheating temperature(C1-x) more than two times(S60); completing the predetermined times of on/off processes of the heater(S70); determining whether the stored on-time is longer than the stored off-time more than two times(S80); stopping drive of the heater by determining that the door of the heat insulation drawer is open if the on-time is longer than both two stored off-times and displaying error showing that the door is open through a display(S90).
