A caption play method of a moving picture player is provided to change a size of a buffer memory which reads a caption of a moving picture to be suitable for a size of a caption and play captions of various sizes. A central control unit reads a moving picture file and a caption file from an optical disc(S201,S203,S205). The central control unit compares a size of a caption with a size corresponding to a currently assigned caption storing region of a buffer memory(S207). When the caption size is greater than the buffer size, the central control unit re-assigns the buffer size to be greater than the caption size(S209). The central control unit reads the caption and stores the read caption in the buffer memory(S211). The central control unit performs synchronization when playing the moving picture file and displays the caption through a reconfiguration procedure of the caption(S213).
