1,271,372. Dyeing synthetic textile materials. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 17 Dec., 1969 [15 Jan., 1969], No. 2427/69. Heading D1B. Synthetic textile materials or unions containing them are dyed by applying a waterinsoluble dye free from fibre reactive groups and then subjecting the material to a dry heat treatment at a pressure less than atmospheric. The heat treatment is preferably effected at 110-240‹C at a pressure of 0.1 to 100 mm. of mercury. A modification of the invention comprises applying a print paste containing the water-insoluble dye to a cellulose material, e.g. paper which is then placed in contact with the synthetic material and the whole subjected to a dry heat treatment as above, e.g. on heated rollers. Cellulose acetate, polyamide, polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate and its unions with cotton and wool are specified.
