A method and a system for displaying a communication charge on a standby screen of a mobile terminal are provided to reduce the use of unnecessary telephone calls or wireless Internet. A charging server(130) generates charging information with respect to a mobile communication service used during a particular time period, and when a charging information request signal is received, the charging server transmits a charging information message including the charging information. A mobile communication network(120) provides the mobile communication service and transfers the charging information message received from the charging server. A mobile terminal(110) receives the charging information message from the charging server, extracts the charging information from the received charging information message and stores it, and displays a communication fee on a standby screen by using the stored charging information.
