An LCD device capable and a method for driving the same are provided to effectively control left and right viewing angles by generating image data of viewing angle control pixels from pixel data of color pixels. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes an array substrate(110), a color filter substrate(120), a liquid crystal layer(130), color pixels, viewing angle control pixels, color filters, and a driver. The array substrate includes plural pixel regions(PXL). The color filter substrate is formed opposite to the array substrate. The liquid crystal layer is formed between the array and color filter substrates. The color pixels, which are formed on a color pixel region(PXL_A) of the pixel regions, control the alignment of the liquid crystal layer according to a horizontal electric field. The viewing angle control pixels, which are formed on a viewing angle control region(PXL_B) of the pixel regions, control the alignment of the liquid crystal layer according to a vertical electric field. The color filters are formed opposite to the color pixels. The driver drives the color and viewing angle control pixels by applying data and viewing angle control voltages.
