A method for detecting LPP(Land Pre-Pit) data is provided to accurately detect the next recording position information about an optical disc in which certain data are recorded by changing an R/L offset value as many as a predetermined number when the LPP data are not normally detected and detecting the LPP data. A microcomputer sets an R/L offset value according as an optical disc in which data are recorded in a part of one track is loaded to record data(S400,S402). The microcomputer controls a servo control unit on the basis of the set R/L offset value and judges whether LPP data of a position capable of being next recorded in the optical disc are detected(S404,S406). When the LPP data are not detected, the microcomputer changes the R/L offset value by a predetermined number(S410,S412). If the LPP data are detected, the microcomputer records the data in the optical disc on the basis of the LPP data(S414).
