1335688 Laminates OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 20 Oct 1970 [20 Oct 1969] 49739/70 Heading B5N [Also in Division B8] A plastics pallet comprises identical upper and lower sheets 11, 12 with edge portions 21, 21A in abutting relation, an intermediate member 14 with a plurality of depending supporting elements 13 arranged to bear on the lower sheet 12, and a reinforcing layer 15 formed of two facing sheets 31 sandwiching a layer of filler 32 and arranged to be in contact with the member 14 and the upper sheet to transmit the weight of the load supported thereon. A separate cylindrical member 33 may be positioned in the supporting elements 13. In a modification Fig. 6 (not shown) the intermediate member is formed of two sheets (37), (38) each with a plurality of cup shaped recesses (39), (40) to receive a separate cylindrical member (33). The edges of the sheets (37), (38) are sealed between the edges of the sheets (11), (12), which sheets may have an antiskip corrugated surface. In a further embodiment Fig. 12 (not shown) the intermediate layer is replaced by a series of separate supporting elements (13) secured to the reinforcing layer (15) and located on an annular ridge (52) on the lower sheet (12). A layer of foamed plastics (54) may surround the elements (13) and cover the lower surface of the reinforcing layer (15). In yet a further embodiment Fig. 13 (not shown) the joining flange (22A) on the edge portion (21A) of the lower sheet (12) is wider than the corresponding flange (22) on the upper sheet (11) whereby the intermediate sheet may rest thereon. In a further embodiment Fig. 8 (not shown) the lower sheet has the separating members formed integral therewith and thus directly supports the reinforcing layer 15. In a modifidation of the reinforcing layer Fig. 11 (not shown) intersecting strips (47) are arranged between the facing sheets (31). |
