The invention concerns a method of manufacturing an optical device having a casing that defines a chamber containing first and second immiscible fluids moveable with respect to one another by electrowetting, said method comprising positioning a first transparent window in a first receiving means provided in said casing and directly sealing said first transparent window to said first receiving means by locally heating a region of said first transparent window in contact with said first receiving means to a first temperature to achieve a local softening of said region of said first transparent window.
