An automotive restraint monitoring assembly comprises a wireless transponder 22 and transponder antenna 24 positioned within a buckle element 18 of a seat belt assembly 16. The transponder 22 transmits a unique seat identification signal 28 only when a clip 20 is positioned within the buckle 18. A base station 30 mounted within a vehicle 14 includes at least one base station antenna 36 in wireless communication with the wireless transponder 22. A vehicle belt alert system 32 is in communication with the base station 30. |
