An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to reduce the thickness of a liquid crystal layer and inhibit the horizontal crosstalk defect, by forming a sealant at a pixel region. The first substrate has the first surface and a pixel electrode. The second substrate has the second surface opposite to the first surface and includes a light shielding layer, a thickness control layer and an opposite electrode sequentially arranged toward the second surface. A sealant(18) adheres the first and second substrates by a frame shape. A liquid crystal layer is installed to an area encapsulated by the sealant and between the first and second substrates. The thickness control layer covers the light shielding layer, defines the thickness of the liquid crystal layer and has a contact hole(7). The opposite electrode is located oppositely to a pixel electrode and electrically contacted with the light shielding layer through the contact hole.
