A DVD(Digital Versatile Disc) recording method and an apparatus therefor are provided to record a program signal of a VCR(Video Cassette Recorder) tape in a DVD except for a no-signal interval by discriminating whether a synchronous signal is detected from a VCR signal in a DVD/VCR combo system. A VCR control unit detects a synchronous signal from a program signal reproduced from a video tape(S100,S102,S104). When the synchronous signal is detected, the VCR control unit records the reproduced program signal in a DVD storing medium(S106). If the synchronous signal is not detected, the VCR control unit pauses for recording the reproduced program signal in the DVD storing medium(S108).
