A switching apparatus and a method for recovering abnormal call resources are provided to check whether a call resource is abnormal or not within a short time by simplifying the procedure for determining abnormality of the call resources. When a call resource is allocated, a controller(100) stores and registers the call resource information in a call resource management unit(102). When a state of the allocated call resource is changed, the controller(100) controls such that the call resource information stored in the call resource management unit(102) is updated, and when the call resource is released, the controller(100) controls such that the call resource information is deleted from the call resource management unit(102) and the call resource is recovered. The call resource management unit(102) stores, updates and deletes the allocated call information.
