Provided is a strontium and calcium thiogallate phosphor, which has high quantum efficiency, allows high-quality multi-color light emission in a broad wavelength range, and is useful for fabricating light various emitting devices including a white LED. The strontium and calcium thiogallate phosphor is represented by the formula of (Ca_1-xSr_x)Mm(Y_1-y-zGa_yA_z)_2S_n:D, wherein n is 4, m is 1, x ranges from 0 to 1, y ranges from 0 to 1, z is greater than 0 and equal to or less than 1, y+z is greater than 0 and equal to or less than 1 and x+y+z is greater than 0 and equal to or less than 2, Z is at least one element selected from boron and scandium, and D is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Cl, Br, Li and a combination thereof.
