The controller has a supply connection device, having high pressure connection and low pressure connection. The compensation valve (11) can be charged in the opening direction by the pressure of selection device (29,30). The selection device feeds the compensation valve with a pressure control or flow control pressure. An independent claim is also included for the method for controlling the load.
